Coating Manager

Thermalex, Inc., a world class high quality aluminum extruder supporting the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced Coating Department Manager for our Montgomery, Alabama facility.  This position will be responsible for managing all areas of the Coating process to ensure delivery of a high quality product through staff effectiveness and performance to stated goals.  THERMALEX, Inc offers an excellent compensation package including paid vacation, holidays, bonus plan, Health & Dental, 401(k), Disability plans, and FSA.   We are a Drug-Free Workplace.

The successful candidate will have earned a BS/BA in Technical/Business or related field.  Have 6 years related experience including supervisor experience. Must have excellent complex critical decision making, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to stand and bend/stoop at various times of the work day.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Principally responsible for Coating production scheduling so as to achieve the elements of the business plan to include staff utilization, proficiency and development, expense management, technical leadership, and proper utilization of equipment.
  2. Ensure personnel receive proper training to achieve productivity levels, turnaround times, and appropriate quality levels.
  3. Perform process audits utilizing work instructions, procedures, and other related documents which enforce strict adherence to established customer and regulatory requirements. 
  4. Ensure Shift Supervisors perform process audits utilizing work instructions, procedures, and other related documents which enforce strict adherence to established customer and regulatory requirements. 
  5. Supervise departmental personnel issues related to development, motivation, and discipline.
  6. Monitor production process and recommend improvement processes when needed.
  7. Monitor expenses and capacity in relation to the Annual Budget.
  8. Assist with selection of equipment and the justification of capital investments.
  9. Ensure a healthful and safe work environment in accordance with the company safety program.
  10. Troubleshoot corrective action reports and respond to quality department on final outcome.
  11. Interface with Sales and Quality department to achieve delivery of product on schedule and to the requested level of quality.
  12. Coordinate with other managers or supervisors concerning scrap issues, billet allocation, and utility personnel.
  13. Coordinate equipment maintenance for their area of responsibility.
  14. May visit clients to assist with production issues or strategize about new processes.
  15. Provide operational updates in staff meetings.
  16. Support and assist in the current Quality System efforts and ongoing surveillance audits.
  17. Regular and predictable attendance.
  18. Ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness and must understand and follow all safety and quality rules and procedures. 
  19. Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with craft workers, laborers, subcontractors, co-workers, supervisors, and others on the jobsite and in the office.
  20. Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
